Hobbs Farm Park Got a New Playground, and Hole 15 Had to Move

"A massive inclusive playground has been built around the restroom facilities and parking lot area at the end of 15. This required the relocation of the basket." A player who calls Hobbs Farm their home course posted that note on UDisc on September 24, 2026. They added that the app's map still showed the old spot, and that the new spot might not be permanent.

It's a small change on one hole, but it shows how the park now works. The most decorated piece of recreation infrastructure in Carrollton just made room for a playground built for toddlers, grandparents, and children who use wheelchairs. Disc golfers, families, and GreenBelt walkers used to come and go on separate schedules. Now they all start from the same parking lot.

What Went In Beside the Parking Lot

The City of Carrollton announced the Playground at Hobbs in an August 13, 2026 release and set a ribbon-cutting for August 28 at 11:30 a.m. The playground had been under construction since March. The city listed these features:

  • Traditional equipment alongside fully inclusive, accessible structures
  • A sensory music garden
  • Rubber surfacing throughout
  • Extensive shade, including covered pavilions
  • Double-width access ramps

The release says it's open to all ages and all abilities. By early fall, visitors were writing about it in course reviews. One UDisc reviewer on October 3 called it "a great playground at the parking lot" and said it was "wonderful for little kids."

You can also reserve it. Carrollton Parks and Recreation rents the playground pavilions for $40 an hour with a three-hour minimum, so a birthday party runs at least $120. The park also has two pavilions, 26 picnic tables, power outlets, and restrooms. For reservations, the department's number is 770-832-1161.

The Course That Gave Up the Space

The basket had to move partly because of what it belongs to. UDisc's 2026 awards rank Hobb's Farm Disc Golf #1 in Georgia, #13 in the United States, and #26 in the world. John Houck designed the 18-hole course, which opened in 2016 with concrete tees and Prodigy T1 targets. UDisc lists it as a mixed-use public park where dogs are allowed. The popular layout measures 5,928 feet, and UDisc estimates the full walk at about 2.6 miles.

The course has room to absorb a change like this. One September 28 reviewer noted that the course has multiple tees and was told it has six additional baskets, so players can make a round as easy or as hard as they like. That same reviewer said the course's only weak spot was the walk between holes 15 and 16. Since then, 15 has changed too. According to the September 24 note, the hole now plays off the tees over the hill to the left, and players should follow the left brush line to find the basket.

If you play here every week and haven't been back since summer, your old line on 15 won't work. If you bring kids to the playground, expect discs in flight on the hill nearby.

"There's been talk that this might not be the final location for the basket, but that's where you'll find it as of September 2026."

The Second Weekend of October

On a typical afternoon, the playground and the course can share the space without much trouble. The weekend of October 10 will be busier.

On Saturday, October 10, 2026, Hobbs Farm hosts the 2nd Annual Hyzer Highway Powered By Most Accurate Discs, a PDGA C/B-tier event. Disc Golf Scene shows registration at 72 of 72, so the field is full. It's the third tournament on the course this year. Prodigy presents STARGATE ONE, a Flex C-tier event, ran on June 13, and the 5th Sling Optimism Tournament, a doubles event, ran on September 19. The Hyzer Highway will be the first full-field event since the playground opened beside the 15th hole.

The next morning, Sunday, October 11, the Carrollton Rainbow Walking Club meets at the Hobbs Farm Trailhead from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. The club meets on the second and fourth Sundays, and November 8 is the next date on its page after that.

If you're planning a playground visit, a round, or a walk that weekend, Sunday will likely be calmer than Saturday. On any other weekend, the tournament page on Disc Golf Scene is the quickest way to check whether the course is booked.

Where the GreenBelt Fits In

The parking lot is also the Hobbs Farm Park Trailhead on the Carrollton GreenBelt, at 500 Believers Boulevard. It has parking, restrooms, a water fountain, the 0.9-mile Hobbs Loop, a pollinator garden, and the Fit Court. From Adamson Square, take Rome Street north and turn right onto Believers Boulevard to reach the lot.

Hobbs sits at GreenBelt mile marker 8.6. That makes it easy to plan a walk that ends somewhere in town, or that starts there and ends with the kids at the playground:

  1. Hobbs Farm Park Trailhead, mile 8.6
  2. Rome Street and William Street, mile 9.46, which is 0.86 trail miles away
  3. North Park Street and Highway 27, mile 9.64, which is 1.04 miles away
  4. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, mile 10.19, which is 1.59 miles away

So a walk out to MLK Jr. Drive and back is a little over three miles. That's about the same distance as a round on the popular disc golf layout. If one adult walks while another plays, you can plan for both groups to get back to the lot around the same time.

The GreenBelt also lists a public kayak launch and a gazebo by the Little Tallapoosa River inside Hobbs Farm Park. Those are good options if you want a quieter spot when the parking lot is busy.

The Fit Court Was the Last Big Addition

Before this year, the last major addition was the Hobbs Farm Fit Court. The city says it opened to the public on September 11, 2019, with five exercise stations, 120 possible exercise combinations, an ADA-compliant design, and water and restrooms nearby. The city's page from that time calls the trail loop one mile. Current GreenBelt and Parks and Recreation listings say 0.9 miles.

The Fit Court fit next to what was already there. The playground is different. It went in at the end of a hole on the top-ranked course in Georgia, and the course had to change around it. In seven years, Hobbs Farm has gone from mostly serving disc golfers and trail users to being a park built for young children as well. The city's August release lists the playground first, ahead of the fitness court, the disc golf course, and the GreenBelt.

Before Your Next Visit

  • Disc golfers. On 15, play off the tees over the hill to the left and follow the left brush line. Don't rely on the UDisc map for that hole until it's updated, and expect the basket could move again.
  • Playground families. The playground is right at the parking lot and restrooms, near the end of a live disc golf hole. The pavilions can be rented for $40 an hour, three-hour minimum.
  • GreenBelt walkers. Start at mile 8.6 at 500 Believers Boulevard. MLK Jr. Drive is 1.59 miles away if you want a longer out-and-back.
  • Everyone. October 10 is a full 72-player tournament day. October 11 brings a group walk to the trailhead at 10 a.m.

Easy walking access to a park like Hobbs Farm matters to a lot of buyers in Carrollton, and that's worth accounting for when you price a home near the GreenBelt or shop for one.
